Overview:
Waterblock X is designed from the inside out to be our most stable and powerful flooring model ever made. At the core of the new design is a fortified next-generation coreboard that maximises durability and overcomes the limitations of standard flooring, preventing common failures such as clicking breaks, buckling, peaking, curling, shrinkage, fading, and staining. Distinguishable by its natural wood colour and embossed backing logo, this core offers natural termite and mould resistance without the need for toxic additives like boric acid, ensuring a safer environment for your home and workspace.
On the surface, the sandblasted-effect matte texture provides an authentic look with anti-slip properties. The installation process is redefined by an exclusive skirting-free system, using the specialised Rollskirt foam strip and silicone sealant to achieve a sleek, minimalist wall-to-wall finish without the need for traditional skirting boards. From fast installation over existing hard surfaces to simple maintenance like damp mopping, Waterblock X makes your everyday effortlessly easier.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Waterblock X manufactured?
Floorbit's manufacturing facility is located in Kuching, Sarawak.
Where is Waterblock X flooring best used?
Waterblock X is perfect for residential homes, especially living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms where both comfort and durability matter. It is also ideal for light to moderate commercial applications.
Can I install Waterblock X in moisture-prone areas like powder rooms or mudrooms?
Yes. Waterblock X is suitable for areas like kitchens, mudrooms, entryways, and powder rooms. As long as the floor is installed correctly with tight seams, it will perform well. Please note that powder rooms will require the entire perimeter and expansion gaps around fixtures (such as toilets and pipes) to be properly sealed. The flooring is waterproof from the top down for everyday household spills, though it is not waterproof against flooding or equipment malfunctions. Learn more about Installation.
Can I install Waterblock X in sunrooms or temperature-fluctuating spaces?
Yes, Waterblock X performs well in environments with temperature swings.
Does Waterblock X flooring fade in sunlight?
Waterblock X is fade resistant and features UV protection. However, it is designed for indoor use only. Floorbit recommend using window treatments in areas with prolonged direct sunlight to prevent any potential fading over time.
How scratch-resistant is Waterblock X?
Extremely. The melamine wear layer protects against scratches, stains, and fading, making it far more durable than natural wood and outperforming other popular flooring alternatives.
Can Waterblock X be refinished?
No, but its durable wear layer resists scratches and stains better than natural wood, so refinishing is not necessary.
How long does Waterblock X flooring typically last?
With the right care and maintenance, Waterblock X can last 20 to 25 years or even longer depending on traffic levels and proper care.
Can I install Waterblock X over existing flooring?
Yes, in many cases you can install Waterblock X over most existing hard surface flooring, provided the surface is clean, dry, flat, structurally sound, and free from deflection. Learn more about Installation.
Can Waterblock X be installed over uneven subfloors?
Minor imperfections are fine, but large dips or humps should be leveled for a proper installation and to ensure the locking mechanism stays secure.
Does the flooring need acclimation?
No acclimation is required before installation.
Is underlayment required?
Yes, use an approved underlayment for sound and moisture protection. If installing over concrete subfloors, a 6-mil polyethylene vapour barrier must be used under the underlayment to protect against moisture. For wood subfloors, a vapour barrier is not necessary, but underlayment helps smooth over unevenness.
Can I install Waterblock X flooring under cabinets?
No. It is best to install cabinets first, then run the flooring up to them, allowing for expansion within the floating floor.
Is professional installation recommended?
While Waterblock X is DIY-friendly, professional installation is a safe option if you are not confident in your skills or have a large, complex area to cover.
How much time does installation take?
It depends on room size and experience. A standard room can often be done in a day, though subfloor preparation may add time to the project.
What is the installation method?
Waterblock X uses an angle-tap locking system that does not require adhesives or nails. It is a simple click-and-lock method so there is no need to glue every single panel.
What tools will I need for a DIY project?
Most tools are standard household items, but you will specifically need: spacers, a tapping block, a pull bar, a hammer, and a saw. Learn more about Installation.
Can Waterblock X be cut with a laminate floor cutter?
Yes, Waterblock X can be cut with a laminate guillotine cutter, though it may leave a rougher edge. The preferred cutting method is using a saw with a 40T carbide-tipped blade.
Do you always have to stagger the flooring?
Yes. Staggering is not only aesthetically pleasing but maintains the integrity of the floor. The weight and load are better distributed when a 30.48cm (12") to 40.64cm (16") stagger is maintained between rows.
Does it matter which direction the flooring is laid?
This is a personal choice, but here are a few tips. Laying the flooring parallel to the longest wall can make the room seem larger, while laying it in the direction of the main light source minimises shadows. You can always use the visualiser tool above to place flooring into your very own room and play with flooring direction and colour.
Does the floor have to be glued down?
No. This is a floating floor and cannot be glued down or nailed to maintain the warranty.
Can I glue the edges for added waterproofing?
We do not recommend using adhesive on the planks. Instead, to waterproof the perimeter in moisture-prone areas like powder rooms, insert Rollskirt (a compressible PE foam strip) into the expansion gaps and cover it with silicone sealant. This prevents water from seeping under the floor while still allowing for necessary expansion. Learn more about Installation.
How do I clean Waterblock X?
Regular sweeping or vacuuming and occasional damp mopping with water will keep your floor looking new.
What specific maintenance does Waterblock X require?
Avoid waxes or polishes to maintain finish integrity. Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor for long periods.
Can I use a steam mop?
Floorbit recommend using a damp mop. Avoid steam mops or abrasive chemicals to ensure the longevity of the floor.
How do I handle tough stains?
For tough spots like oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar, use acetone (nail polish remover) on a clean white cloth. Wipe the area, then follow up with a damp cloth to remove any residue.
Can the floor be repaired if damaged?
Yes, individual panels can be replaced easily thanks to the angle-tap installation system.
